How do I know which lamp shade fitting type I need?

Lamp shades are attached to fittings in a few different ways. The most common are pendant fittings, which use a ring or shade carrier that hangs from the bulb holder, and table or floor lamp fittings, which typically use a gimbal or shade carrier that rests on the bulb. Always check the fitting type of your lamp base before ordering to make sure the shade is compatible. All of our shades come with a standard 4cm opening, making them compatible with E27 lamp holders straight out of the box. We've also included a handy reducer ring with every shade, which brings the opening down to 3cm so they're fully compatible with E14 lamp holders too. It's a small detail that makes a big difference when you're sourcing shades across a large project with mixed fittings.

What is the most popular lamp shade material for hospitality interiors?

Fabric and linen shades are consistently the most popular choice for hotels, restaurants and bars. They diffuse light beautifully, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that works well in both bedroom and public area settings. For a more contemporary or industrial look, metal and glass shades are a great alternative.

What is the difference between a drum shade and a tapered shade?

A drum shade has straight, vertical sides giving it a clean, cylindrical shape that works well in modern and contemporary interiors. A tapered shade has a wider base that tapers to a narrower top, creating a more traditional, classic empire silhouette. Both are available in a range of materials and sizes across our wholesale trade range.

How do I choose the right size lamp shade?

For table lamps, the shade diameter should be roughly equal to the height of the lamp base, and the shade should be tall enough to conceal the bulb holder. For pendant lights, the size of the shade should be proportional to the room and ceiling height. If you're sourcing shades for a large project and need guidance, our trade team is happy to help.

Can I order lamp shades in bulk to match across multiple rooms?

Absolutely. Ordering consistent shades across multiple rooms or properties is one of the most common requirements for our trade customers, particularly in hospitality and residential development. Our bulk trade pricing makes it straightforward and cost effective to maintain a consistent look throughout a project.
